Record high sales in this economy? Only in China. General Motors and its joint ventures are reporting a 38% increase in sales for the first half of 2009 compared to last year. The automaker thanked government auto stimulus polices as one of the forces behind its results, which totals 814,442 units sold from January to June.
GM saw the most sales in mini-commercial vehicles. Its SAIC-Wuling joint venture totaled 524,598 units, an increase of 50% over last year. The Sunshine minivan, the most popular in the lineup, claims 295,789 of those units. Buick sales rose 34% to 195,989 units. And the hotly anticipated Cruze sedan sold 19,196 units in the first three months.
