All-New Grand Bentley Arnage Replacement Teased

For those of you still mourning the loss of that most British of gentleman’s rides, the Bentley Arnage, chin up old boy, the new Grand Bentley (hopefully that’s just a codename) will be crunching up a gravel driveway near you next year.

It’s nothing but a shadowy, artily-lit nose at the moment but just from this it’s clear that much of the handbuilt Arnage’s pomp remains. Bentley is also keen to point out that the car has been designed, developed and will be built entirely at its traditional Crewe factory just for those who might have accused it of being a reskinned Volkswagen.

There’s no news on whether the

old car’s 50-year old 6.75-litre V8 engine will sit behind the upright radiator grille but with ever-tightening emissions regulations, we’d guess that smaller, newer, turbo-charged units will do the wafting. Advanced aluminium construction should also make the new car lighter and therefore faster, more economical and better to drive.

We’ll bring you more news as it breaks, including the name. As big Bentleys have traditionally been named after corners on the legendary Le Mans circuit I’ll keep my eyes peeled this weekend in central France.
